Here are some pictures of them building the Service Truck.
They had a blast.
Each truck has multiple gears, pulleys and other moving parts that are controlled by small electric motors. And talk about following directions, this truck had over 100 pages of detailed instructions on how to assemble the truck. It was quite the challenge but they got them built.
After they were built, we demonstrated them to the other classes. One of the small air pumps malfunctioned, but the rest of the gears and pulleys all worked.
With each truck with well over a few thousand parts, I had to buy some containers to store the parts after we take them apart. It was a full class effort to disassemble, arrange, and store all the parts. We finished today. I now have all our old and new Lego kits stored properly so nothing is lost.
This week I will start a project where my students need to create something from the old parts and adapt it to the new robotic kits we now have.
